About this site

Fleetwood Mac: Timeline & Lineups is a single-page, animated history of one of rock's most reshuffled bands. Instead of a long article, you scroll. The years tick forward, members slide on and off stage as they join and leave, and album covers drift past as they're released.

Why this exists

Fleetwood Mac's lineup has changed at least a dozen times across nearly sixty years. Wikipedia tells you that, but in the form of a table. Tables are precise and forgettable. A timeline you can feel — where Peter Green vanishes mid-1970, where Lindsey and Stevie sweep in at the start of 1975, where Christine McVie returns in 2014 after sixteen years away — sticks.

How it's built

Plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No framework, no build step. The page is intentionally tall so the browser's native scroll works (mouse wheel, trackpad, touch, keyboard, screen readers). The visible UI is pinned with position: fixed, and a small JS engine maps scroll position to a fractional year between 1967 and today. That year drives all the animation.

Sources & accuracy

Lineup tenures are compiled from publicly available sources. Some join and leave dates are slightly fuzzy (Bob Brunning vs. John McVie in 1967; Christine McVie's transition from session player to full member; the long Bob Welch tail). Where reality is messier than a single year, the data file uses the most commonly cited year.
